Are you interested in being a part of the Lowell Kinetic Sculpture Race, but you don’t have time to build a machine or be part of a team? No problem! We’d love to have you. Perks include supreme glory, snazzy t-shirt & optional hugs from management!

Help us by contacting local businesses and networking to find companies that want to take part in making this event the best it can be.
Social Media
Year Round
Do you use Instagram, Twitter or FaceBook already? Then this position may be for you! LKSR is seeking enthusiastic social media volunteers to help come up with, craft, and post engaging content for our social media outlets.
Bucket Brigade
Race Day Only 8am-5pm
Duties include interacting with the crowd, handing out smiles and other keepsakes, and collecting donations that keep LKSR Free For All. This crew will also interact with the spectators and gather votes for their favorite machines! The team that gets the most votes will win the coveted People’s Choice Award.
Cones Crew
Race Day Only 9:30am-5pm
Duties include riding in the cones truck and distributing/collecting traffic cones on the race course.
Tents/Tables Crew
Race Day Only 7am-5pm
Duties include riding in, or following, the Tables & Chairs Truck (1 person who is over 25 w/ a valid license to drive) dropping off tables/chairs at each of the 3 venues and picking them up later that day.
Course Marshals
Race Day Only 8am-4pm
Volunteers will be educated on the rules of Kinetic Racing and are responsible for keeping our teams in line and handing out penalties when applicable. Duties include morning inspection of your assigned team’s machine and general cat-herding as you travel with the race until its finish.
Breakdown Crew
Race Day Only 1:30pm-6pm
Duties include traveling from the Mud venue, to the Water venue, and lastly, to the Finish line supporting our venue crews as they wrap things up for the day before the LKSR After Party.
Market St. Crew
Race Day 6am-12pm OR 12pm-5pm
Will be responsible for corralling the teams on Market Street for the start, as well as overseeing the stage area and the finish line of the race. Including helping racers register in the morning on Market Street and/or manning our merch tents.
Water Obstacle
Race Day Only 10am-5pm
Duties include supporting set up / breakdown of the venue and band and general cat herding. There are also positions in the info tent and merch sales.
Spectator Guides
Race Day Only 10am-4pm
Duties include traveling just ahead of the race on your bike and helping wrangle the spectators as they arrive at each venue.
Mud Obstacle Crew
Race Day Only 9am-2pm
Duties include MUD! YES. It is as fun as it looks. Get ready to get dirty!
